Interacting with Drivers who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing


During this course, the student will learn; communications with the hearing impaired and speech impaired person. 

The student will learn about deaf culture and communication skills needed to communicate efficiently with persons who are deaf or hearing impaired.

The students will learn the ADA requirements for a peace officer and their agency..

The student will become familiar with the various ways of communicating with the hearing impaired community.

The student will learn definitions and the language of the hearing impaired. The student will walk away with ways to interact with Drivers who are deaf and hard of hearing.

The information in this course will allow you to identify, communicate or decide on an interpreter as well as interacting with a deaf person while on traffic or incident.
