SEE BELOW for PRE-REQUISITES- The Basic Telecommunicator Certification Course is designed to provide the beginning Telecommunicator with an understanding of situations encountered in an emergency communications environment and the basic skills necessary to collect information in both emergency and non-emergency situations. This course is required by the Commission for certification. The course will consist of 5 days of classroom lecture. Monday the 30th will be the Texas State Licensing Exam (all must attend)
Students will be held to a VERY HIGH standard due to the seriousness of the license and the standards that are placed upon the academies by TCOLE.
Students will be required to email CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION for 1305 and all TCOLE required forms before being granted access to the course.

Students will be administered 3 Quizzes’ and 2 Exams during the course. The quizzes will be averaged and counted as one “Exam” grade.
Students must hold and maintain at least a 75 average beginning at the Midterm Exam grade. Students will be dismissed from the course if their average falls below a 75.
Failure of a quiz or exam will result in a make-up quiz or exam. The original test score will stand for course average. Failure of a make-up exam will result in dismissal from the course.
Failure of the Final Exam will result in dismissal from the course.
